Susquehanna State Park Camping

We finally were able to link up with a friend family of ours to head back out to Susquehanna State Park in Maryland for a weekend camping trip with the kids.

Susquehanna State Park is a beautiful state park with lovely forested campsites, and really great hiking. The sites range wildly from large sites that can accommodate multiple families, to small single tent sites, with little to no parking.

Because of the wide variety of campsite size, at the end of our trip we took a drive around to make notes on campsite sizes, to inform future trips!

After setting up camp Friday night, we settled in for the evening, made some chicken and shrimp fajitas, and hung out around the fire, while engaging in the entertaining act of putting two small children to bed in a tent, with all of the noise outside tempting them to come back out! After a few hours, we finally got them down!

On Saturday, we decided to visit the playground near our camping loop to give the kids the opportunity to have some fun free play time. It was a nice small playground, enough to entertain them for a few hours!

That morning, we got some really cool sunrise shots through the trees. It was a beautiful clear day, and the sunlight rays filtered beautifully through the trees. Also got some obligatory cool truck shots, as the Tundra was looking amazing as usual!

After the playground, we regrouped at the campsite for lunch, and then decided to hit some of the trails in the area. In particular, we tackled part of the Deer Creek Trail, which led to a picnic parking lot where we stopped for a break. Afterwards, we headed back, taking a different route.

The trails were beautiful, and were challenging enough to be interesting, but not so challenging that the kids would have any trouble. I had Arya in a hiking pack/child carrier, which worked out really well. It was very comfortable, and she had a blast being carried around!

After getting back to camp, we settled in, and got a nice big fire going to get ready for that evening. This time we whipped up some burgers and hotdogs, and settled in for a relaxing evening.

All in all, it was a fun trip away, with some great hiking and spending time with friends! Looking forward to next time!
