Assateague Beach Ride

We decided to take the kids out for a day on the beach at Assateague for a nice summer’s day outing. It also gave us the opportunity to test out our new-to-us 2010 Toyota Tundra SR5. It’s the replacement for my 1998 F150. My old truck has given me very many years of incredible service, but being as old as it was, and only 2WD, it was hitting its limits with what we wanted to do with it.

In contrast to the Jeep which we normally bring out, the truck offered a bit more family comfort, and a lot more storage space. This helps a lot when travelling with the entire family, and a friend who came along with us.

It was a beautiful day, perfect temperatures and the ocean breeze was very refreshing. The surf was also pleasant enough for the kids to play in the ocean with us watching, but not so rough as to make it difficult for them. On the way out, we even got to see a couple of the famous Assateague Ponies from a safe distance.

Assateague OSV really is one of our favorite things to do in Maryland. It gives us the opportunity to relax on the beach in peace, with plenty of beach all to ourselves with no crowding, and with the vehicles parked right next to us, it’s super easy to bring whatever conveniences, and cook fresh food, on the beach. We look forward to making use of this resource for many years to come!
