Cooking Gear
Stoves and grills
This is my go-to stove setup. It’s a Coleman Triton 2 burner propane stove. The main reason it’s my go-to? Wind!
The biggest issue I’ve come across while camping or cooking outdoors on propane stoves is wind, or even a slight breeze. It' pushes the heat away from your pot or skillet, and it takes forever for things to cook.
I do have a smaller butane/propane dual fuel stove, but it does not have a wind guard built in. I have one of those small foldable wind guards, but if I’m off-roading in my vehicle or I have access to the vehicle, I just bring this stove. No extra pieces, and it’s very stable to cook on.
Cookware
I keep my cookware loadout simple. I have a Ozark Trail Carbon Steel 9.5 inch frying pan that has a folding handle for compactness. It folds up great, cooks well, and is easy to clean up. As for cooking utensils, I have a cheap set of silicon tongs. spoon, and spatula. That covers most anything I’d cook on my trips.
Plateware and cutlery
For cutlery, I went with the UCO set for a spoon and fork, and then I have a small sheathed paring knife from Walmart to make a complete set. Once again, works great, has lasted many trips so far, and is nice and affordable.
