Wrangler Wheels/Tires/Suspension
For running gear, I went with bronze Method NV305 17 inch wheels, wrapped in BFGoodrich KO2s, in 34 inches (285/75R17). For lift, I went with the Rancho 2 inch lift, with adjustable 9000XL shocks.
It’s worked out to be a great setup so far. With the Rancho setup the ride is plenty comfortable, and is very flexible off-road. And the 34 inch tires work great off-road.
If I had to do it again, however, I would probably go with a 3 inch lift and 35s. The reason I went with 34 and a 2 inch lift, was to keep the Jeep at a comfortable height. I’m not a tall guy, and I have to put two small children in the babyseats in the back every day. So too tall and that would be a bit of a challenge.
What I discovered, however, is that after adding underbody armor, storage in the rear, roof rack, winch and bumper, the suspension sags a little, and has dropped down about an inch. I’ll likely just have coil spacers added to compensate, which should work fine and still allow the suspension to work great.
But that being said, it’s a great kit, at a great price. And it performs really well off road, but with the more aggressive trails we’ve been going on, I think another inch or two of lift would save my undercarriage a bit!
